Training and CPD

The ingredients that make up the perfect property manager include the right blend of soft and technical skills to best advise and communicate with his/her customers. Whilst some of this comes naturally, much of it must be learned.

In our experience, many property managers are pigeon-holed in their role, deliberately kept at arm’s length from technical matters that are the domain of other individuals or departments in their company. Although this is understandable for operational or efficiency reasons, the property manager’s role becomes much more of an administrative one than an advisory one – which is a shame.

The IRPM [embedded link to help an advice page] and ARMA [embedded link to help an advice page] perform invaluable training roles in our industry. The IRPM runs workshops to get you ready for your IRPM examinations and ARMA runs an eclectic range of courses from reading leases and HR advice, to managing leisure facilities in blocks of flats.

In our experience, developing the technical side of the property manager’s role gives them more confidence when advising colleagues or clients, and more job satisfaction.

IRPM qualifications and ARMA training are essential in our eyes, however when supplemented with technical expertise from respected suppliers, property managers will become the well-rounded individuals they strive to become.
